Sod Installation in Sugar Land, TX

Site preparation

We prep the site so the sod sits in direct contact with the soil, which helps it root.

Installed by hand

We install sod plugs or pieces by hand, from small patches to larger sections.

According to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, sod can be used for a full lawn installation or to repair smaller areas.

Matched to your lawn

The sod is chosen to blend with the grass you already have.

Best time to install

Sod roots fastest when the grass is actively growing. For Bermuda, St. Augustine and zoysia lawns, that means spring, late summer and fall.

According to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, sod can be planted nearly year-round, but it roots quickly when the grass is actively growing.

Keep it moist

New sod has to stay moist while it roots. Water it more often than an established lawn, then space the waterings out after about two weeks.

According to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, sod that dries out soon after planting can shrink and separate, leaving gaps where weeds can grow.

Wait for the first mow

Don't cut new sod right away. Let it grow a bit taller than your normal mowing height first.

According to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, wait until the grass is a third to a half taller than the height you want to mow at. Sod is ready to mow sooner than seeded or sprigged lawns.
